About Brenda

I’m Brenda LaPorte, MCPC (she/her) and I’m the Owner of LaPorte Consulting, LLC. My life journey, both professionally and personally, has been an unconventional one and has led me to where I am today - doing what I love and helping others do the same. 

Professionally, I have been an entrepreneur since I was a young person (yes, I actually had a lemonade stand on the corner where my childhood farmhouse stood). As an adult, my diverse career path includes experience in the non-profit sector, in the corporate world, and running my own businesses. I’ve worked with people of all ages, genders, and neurotypes through a trauma-informed lens, in fields ranging from theatre and art, radio and TV, mental health and community centers, to teaching, workforce and leadership development. I’ve held positions as an administrative assistant, office manager, mentor, and in volunteer leadership roles for community non-profits. I’ve owned and operated several small businesses, and have helped many people on their paths in life and with their careers.

Personally, I hold several identities, including unschooler, married lesbian, mother of 4th generation queer and trans adult children, writer, artist, group facilitator, resident of Western MA, kitty mom (meet my team below), and advocate. I love brainstorming, problem-solving, learning, community, networking, researching and finding resources. I also love radical thinking, unconventional ideas, and creative ways of being in the world.

I believe in these 5 pillars: respect, compassion, empathy, curiosity and consent as the foundation for my relationships, and how I approach my life.

In many ways, LaPorte Consulting is the culmination of my varied professional career, my diverse personal journey, and my deeply-held life philosophies. All these aspects of who I am and what I value inform my entrepreneurial and coaching programs and I love working with people who also embrace their individuality and passions!
